I have officially returned from my family’s Thanksgiving travels. This year, my immediate family, plus Stephen, decided to visit my relatives in southern Indiana. My mother and father grew up in two very small, neighboring towns where the majority of my relatives still live. My sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew drove from their home in Missouri to also join in the Thanksgiving festivities.
We stayed at my grandmother’s house. She has lived here since the 1940’s.
She even has a porch swing!
On Thanksgiving Day we had lunch with my dad’s side of the family and dinner with my Mom’s side. It was a lot of eating for one day! I tried to keep my portions to what I would eat for a normal lunch and a normal dinner. The only difference was that I had dessert with each meal!
Because we all live so far away from each other, we used Thanksgiving as an excuse to take some family pictures!

Thanksgiving Day was a great time with great family! We had so much fun, that when we returned to South Carolina, we decided to have another feast! My mom and dad invited Stephen and I over to their home yesterday in order to eat once again!
Here is the spread: turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and rolls.
You may notice that there is no turkey on my plate. That is because I decided beforehand not to eat it. I recently read an article in a local magazine about turkey debeaking, and it really upset me. This year, I decided that instead of showing my support for cruelty that I don’t agree with, I would just abstain all together. Besides, the taste of turkey is something that I could take or leave. Since I knew that it would be easy for me to give up, I felt that there was no other option for me.

Hope you all had a great day back to work and school! I’m off to catch a Group Centergy class at my gym!

I LOVE your coat!! It looks like y’all had a nice Thanksgiving! I’ve been a vegetarian for a year and a half because of issues like that. Although, I’m on a diet right now that necessitates meat and I HATE it. If I can’t handle thinking about where it came from, I probably shouldn’t be eating it in the first place. :/
