Greetings! I hope you all have been having a great Monday! My day began with a nice run. (And whoa was my entire body sore from this.)
And then a trip to the eye doctor where my eyes were dilated.
Which meant that I got to wear these bad boys behind my glasses for a good portion of the day.
But, I digress. Let’s talk about running.
I gotta tell you all, I LOVE my new Garmin. A couple of days ago, I posted on my fear related to receiving constant feedback about my pace.
Well, my pace wasn’t so great, but it was actually better than expected. On Saturday I ran 6 miles comfortably in 58:30. (Side note: anyone know how to get info on your mile splits? Do you have to install the software to do this?)
But pace aside, what I really liked about the Garmin, was being able to watch the miles fly by. It’s like treadmill running with great scenery!

Next time I blog, I will be in Missouri. Stephen, Mom, Dad, and I will be making a 16 hour drive in order to visit my sister, brother-in-law, Max, and Clara. Max and Clara are 4 and 7, and it is a huge treat to spend Christmas with little ones who still believe in Santa Claus.
I’m very excited to see my family!
Before I depart, I thought I’d share my goals for this year’s Christmas festivities.
1) Continue to workout, but lower my expectations for what I can accomplish. I often fall off the exercise wagon when I’m visiting my sister. This is usually because my goals are unattainable. My typical exercise regime of 60 minutes a day is just not realistic during these next few days. My hope for this trip is to get in 20-30 minutes of exercise each day, rather than my typical 60 minutes. But you know what? If this doesn’t happen, who cares? For me, Christmas is about spending time with family that I rarely get to see- not exercise!
2) Enjoy my treats, but don’t eat so many sweets that I feel sick. You know the feeling you get when you’ve overdone it? I would like to avoid that, yet still feel like I’ve indulged. Sometimes it’s difficult to find that balance.
3) Spend as much time as possible with these critters. I love, love, love being an aunt. Unfortunately my niece and nephew live so far away
. I gotta soak up their cuteness when I can!
Aren’t they precious? Enjoy your family this holiday!
Are you traveling for the holidays? Have you set any holiday goals?

My holiday goals is to just relax and enjoy! Sounds like you’re doing that, too! That’s great that you are putting family time as first priority. Such intimate gatherings only happen once a year or so!
I’m about to babysit my niece and nephew tomorrow…kids are so cute!
For me, Christmas is about spending time with family that I rarely get to see- not exercise!
Well said . . .
Yep you can get mile splits, but you have ot set up your Garmin to do it. Follow these steps, it might not be the exact same on yours but hopefully close, I have the 305:
Cick Mode
Click Training
Click Training Options
Click Auto Lap
Set it up to lap every 1 mile
Then after you run you can look at your History by run and it will give you the splits
You have great goals!! Have a blast in Missouri!
Have a blast in Missouri with the fam! I’m heading to Cali tomorrow and can hardly wait for some sunshine and warm weather. It will be hard for me not to eat healthy on my trip with my vegetarian sis cooking her crazy veggie and faux meat dishes.
cute fam! BTW I want a garmin so bad! My only fear is that my pace running outside is gonna be COMPLETELY different than my pace on the treadmill….
I just laughed out loud at your glasses – at work. I really hope you meant for them to be funny, because I’m now officially going to be known as that girl who laughs at computers.
Oh yes, I definitely meant for it to be funny.
Your niece and nephew are so cute! I was wondering how to set up the mile splits on my garmin too… the mystery is solved!
I have the same “fear” about a garmin. I think I might become to obsessive with it! I still hope I got one for xmas!
Those sound like great goals. So glad you’re enjoying your garmin!!
mystery solved! thank you!
