For me, New Year’s has never started on January 1st. It’s always begun on the day that school or work resumes after the holidays. And that day was today.
Now, I’ve never really had a New Year’s resolution. But that doesn’t mean I don’t set goals for myself. In fact, I think I’m more goal-oriented than the average person. I’m constantly thinking of new ambitions and adding them a mental list. I have a lot of aspirations. Some I’m accomplishing right now. Some are for the future. Some will take years of hard work.
I thought I’d share some of my life’s goals with you all, since that seems to be a trend in blogger world this time of year.
1) Continue to blog. I’m quite dedicated to this piece of the web that is mine. I’m constantly thinking of new ideas, and I’m looking forward to growing as a blogger for years to come. Thank you for your support and comments!
2) Run an ultramarathon. Will it be in 2010? Doubtful, but I wouldn’t write it off just yet!
3) Work on eating less processed foods. I’m happy with my progress on this one! Not even a year ago, I was a frozen dinner fiend!
4) Continue to grow in my career. Specifically, I want to be a professional who consistently reads psychology articles in order to keep up with the current research.
5) Improve my crocheting skills. Let’s just say this one will probably take the more effort than any other goal on my list!
6) Continue to experiment with baking and cooking. I’ve done well with this one so far. Trust me, I’ve come a long way. Stephen can certainly attest to this fact. Thankfully, we aren’t chucking my creations down the garbage disposal anymore!
7) Become a group fitness instructor. Preferably for Les Mills and my beloved Body Attack.
8 ) Be the best aunt that I can be. I want Max and Clara to know that although I live far away, I love them so, so much!
9) Get a cat of my own. I’m stoked for this one! As soon as I land my first full-time job, this will quickly be checked off my list. Preferably it will be fluffy. I’m a sucker for fluffy cats.
10) Purchase my first house. I’m most excited about decorating it! Less so about mowing it and keeping up with the yard.

Good night, everyone! Nonexistent sleep last night, coupled with getting up early for my first day back to work, has me exhausted!
Sorry I was m.i.a. this weekend. I missed blogging! But it was Stephen and I’s last weekend together before we had to resume school and internship, and I decided to take the weekend off.

Your goals sound great Lily! An ultramarathon? Go you! I know how you feel- I’m always reading academic journals in my field to stay up-to-date as well. Best of luck achieving all your goals
Whoa! 2010 looks to be one exciting year for you with all those goals! I am so glad someone else is as obsessed with Les Mills classes as I am. Though, I am partial to Body Pump
Wow great goals! And Yay group fitness! Good luck with them all!
Body Pump is my second favorite
Great goals for 2010. Not sure whereabouts you live, but if it is anywhere near KY my mom runs a cat rescue and has some amazing cats. Lots of himalyans and persians. You can see her cats on petfinder, put in 40422 for the zip code and look for Willow Creek Sancturary. She does transports to OH, PA, TN, etc all the time.
Great goals…. is that a picture of something you crochet?
Great goals! How exciting for you to get a pet- they bring so much joy! I can’t wait to read/hear about your ultra marathon training.
Love your crocheting! Mow lawn can be fun, than sometimes not. Just make sure you mow early morn before the hot suns sets in. Ugh.
Gelareh-No…I wish!
Monica-I LOVE himalayans! I may have to look into to her eventually. (I’m in SC.)
You want a cat, I want a dog! YAY!! Good luck with the house stuff. I have that as a LONG term goal. Unfortunately we live in Boston which is “wicked expensive”. Planning on staying in SC?
thanks for visiting my blog- i love yours already. these are some great goals. I’m impressed with your ability to find the things to focus on for the upcoming year
Lily, for the record, when you get your first FT job, and begin looking for your “own” fluffy cat, Beatrice and/or Irvin would be very, very disappointed were you to select anyone else!
I don’t often say much about your blog, but I do think it is a very good one. (The BEST, of course!) I always enjoy reading it.
From a clearly biased father ………………..
Love your NY resolutions! they sound great and inspiring. Love your cat pic!!!
Those are such great goals! That is really cool that you crochet – I never have tried.
Dad, I would love to take Beattie or Irvin. But I know that when the time comes, you and mom are not going to be able to part with them!
I loved reading your goals for 2010! They’re all very realistic but you set the bar high in some ways as well. And I just LOVE that your getting a kitty because…well, I loooove cats. Make sure to post many, many pictures of the little rascal
Are you going to get him/her as a kitten?
What great resolutions! Numbers 1, 3, and 5 are on my list as well.
Gracie-I think that I’d like to get an adult cat since they are often overlooked in shelters.
Plus, I’m not sure I want to deal with the wily ways of a kitten!
I am more goal-oriented as well. I have never once made a New Year’s resolution! Lots of fun goals ahead for you!
