Hey, Hey! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend! I definitely did. My trip to Charleston was laid back and relaxing. Not to mention, I was able to spend a lot of time with Stephen. After such a long weekend together, it was difficult to leave!
(This picture is not from this weekend. It was taken last summer.)
We didn’t do anything too action packed. On Sunday, we pretty much lazed around until lunch time.
I had a sweet potato with leftover peppers and black beans. I also sprinkled some crushed red pepper on top. On the side I snacked on pomegranate arils.
After lunch, I decided to forgo the gym for an outdoor run. I couldn’t pass up running in the 70 degree Charleston weather!
I tried to convince Stephen to join me on my jog, but he wasn’t feeling it wanted to play video games. Instead, we compromised. I would shorten my run to 3 miles and then swing by the house to pick him up for a walk.
According to my Garmin, here are the stats from my run:
Mile 1- 9:22
Mile 2- 9:16
Mile 3- 8:55
Fastest Pace- 6:16
I was struggling in the last mile, but I am getting faster! I’m trying not to get bummed about how slow I am right now. Instead I’m telling myself that if I used to be capable of running at a faster pace, then my body will be able to reach that same level of fitness once again.
Up until the time that Stephen and I began our walk, the weather was perfect and sunny. As soon we set foot on the pavement, the sky began to darken, and it started to drizzle. We had to cut our walk short at about 1.5 miles because I was carrying my camera, and the rain was really starting to pick up.
But before the weather took a turn for the worst, we found plenty of time to visit some friends.
We have a certain route that we take just so we can catch up with some of our favorite neighborhood pets.
This guy (girl?) is our absolute favorite. Do dogs get any cuter? Stephen, interested in getting a golden retriever of his own someday, wants to know what breeder this dog comes from.
But who needs a real golden, when we have Pookie?

Later in the day, Stephen and I ran some errands. The most notable being a trip to Whole Foods.
I try not to shop here too often as it is pricey. But I wanted some whole wheat pastry flour, which I have not been able to find at Ingles lately.
Stephen was quite patient. He allowed me to walk down each aisle as I scoured the shelves in search of interesting finds. I held back and refrained from making too many unnecessary purchases. However, my growling tummy could not let me pass up the hot/cold bar.
I got a little bit of everything. The most notable choice being the General Tso’s tofu. It was SO GOOD!
For dessert, Stephen and I each picked an item from the bakery.
He got a chocolate chip muffin.
I got a blueberry biscuit.
In order to wash down the goodies, I begrudgingly spent $3.50 on this bottle of kombucha.
It probably took 5 minutes for me to pick out which flavor I was going to try. Despite advice from Nicole that Mango is the best, I finally settled on this bottle of Synergy Superfruits.
As a first time kombucha drinker, I was pretty shocked at the taste. My tastebuds were fairly certain that I was drinking an entire bottle of red wine vinegar.
After completing errands, Stephen and I sat down to watch the Golden Globe Awards. But mostly, I caught up on my Google Reader. I find award shows to be painstakingly boring.
In other news, today I was able to get in my second Body Attack class of the weekend! I went to Body Pump as well, and my muscles are going to hate me tomorrow!

Tonight’s Question: Have you tried kombucha? Tell me what you thought!

Okay, not tried (nor heard of) Kombucha, but TOTALLY jealous of running in 70 degree weather. We had a heat wave over the weekend of the low 40′s!
Also, those running stats are awesome. I don’t run well at all, so sub 10:00 miles would be great for me. Keep at it!
I ate lunch at Whole Foods today too, isn’t it great?! I’ve never tried Kombucha!
glad you had a great weekend- love all hte pictures, especially teh dog…awww!!
my friend bought me one…and it’s still sitting in the fridge. BTW you need to post a review/how to/feelings about your garmin!
You’re lucky you have cute and friendly neighborhood pets! There’s a huge-ass St. Bernard on my regular running route…he barks at me and I swear at him every time I run by…it’s bound to get ugly one of these days.
A body attack class sounds pretty intense
I’ve tried Kombucha before and I wanted to like it…but I couldn’t! I also thought it tasted like vinegar
Diana- I will! I haven’t had much of a chance to use it yet though. Once I find some time to play around with more of the features, I’ll give you all the lowdown.
glad you had a good weekend
I’ve never tried kombucha – I finally found it here, but it’s so expensive!
I like the raspberry and passionberry kombuchas. They definitely have a vinegar-y taste, but I like that. I do not especially like the floaty stuff (which I guess is the raw tea strands?)
We got our golden from a golden retriever rescue.
Hi Lily!
I just recently found your blog and I’m already a big fan:)
I tried Kombucha today in the form of “Kombucha Wonder Drink” where it is blended with green tea, organic cane sugar & lemon. While I definitely noticed the vinegary taste, it was a nice change from the usual H2O!
That golden is sooo cute! I can see why he wants to get to know the breeder.
And whole foods tofu is sooo good, I totally agree! Kombucha though…I am not a fan unfortunately. I know it’s good for me but I can’t get over the vinegar taste!
I have never tried Kombucha…I’ve actually never heard of it! I am the same way at whole foods! I always take forever and pick my items very carefully because I always want to buy everything!
I haven’t tried that tea but I would like to! Isn’t leaving your guy the worst? I hate it
and damn girl you are super speedy- max pace at 6:16- wow!
That dog is too cute! He/she looks very excited to see you guys!
Never fear, Katie. I was probably running that fast for 5 seconds tops as I sprinted at the end!
Looks like a great weekend! I’m so jealous of your 70 degree weather! I’m currently working on becoming a runner (*very* slowly, but surely) and I feel like it would be so much easier and more fun if I could do it outside. I’m in PA, so we probably won’t be in the 70′s til April or June :/
I LOVE going to Whole Foods. I don’t go there a lot either because of the prices, but I feel like I’m in paradise when I’m there, haha. And I most certainly cannot pass up their salad bar. YUM!
I love kombucha now, but I hated it the first time I tried it. I know, it’s shocking at first, but it’s so good for you and it’s such an acquired taste. Try the mango, it’s the sweetest flavor.
That muffin looks so good! So jealous you got to run in 70degrees!
I’ve tried one of those kombuchas before and it wasn’t bad – if only I could remember which one it was…. Also, I keep think you’re still in Charleston! I didn’t know you moved!
