This morning I woke up and felt surprisingly bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement. But I was delighted to learn that something I lost had made a miraculous overnight appearance.
My APPETITE!
In celebration of my old friend’s arrival, my mom made me a special treat.
A waffle made with Bob’s Red Mill 7 Grain Pancake Mix, homemade apple butter (made by my Aunt Yvonne), and apple slices.
For the majority of the week, I’ve been subsisting on cranberry juice and water. So, this waffle really hit the spot.
It feels so good to be hungry again! It’s difficult writing a blog that focuses on food when you are lacking in appetite.
But I’m happy to say, I’ve officially got my food back!
Hopefully my desire to exercise will soon follow. I tell you, sitting on the couch all day gets old really quickly. I’m all caught up on episodes of Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Project Runway, and Models of the Runway.
I’ve even discovered a new favorite show called Make it or Break It. It’s a totally cheesy ABC Family series about four elite gymnasts that has me completely hooked. You can watch full episodes of it on the ABC Family website, if you’re interested.
What’s your favorite cheesy television show or movie?
(As far as movies, I’d have to say 13 Going on 30.)

I have been playing with that pancake mix for awhile now and can’t seem to get it right. Even if I follow the exact directions! It’s always too cakey and the pancakes fall apart
Your waffle looks great
Hmm. My mom made the waffles, so I’m not sure what she did. Maybe the mix just works better for waffles?
Glad you’re feeling better! I had a pretty waffle this morning, too! Mmmm!
I love Mean Girls!
so glad you’re feeling better and have an appetite again, being sick is awful! mm homemade apple butter must be fantastic. love me some waffles too!
Hey, I have an aunt Yvonne too lol
Glad you’re feeling better! I like pretty much anything they play on ABC family
my life is complete when TLC runs “say yes to the dress” marathons on friday night. doesn’t get much lamer than that.
Ooh, I love apple butter. That looks really good.
PS – I told Jason that the next time we go visit his parents, we have to go to the Amazing Savings in Easley. He said it’s about a half hour away. Sweet!
awesome! not sure where jason’s parents live, but there is also a location in Greenville that may be closer.
Oh my gosh, Im just catching up on some posts and saw you are sick.. blah!! Really hope you’re on the mend. Im glad to see you’re getting your appetite back (who wouldnt with those waffles??!!)
Thanks for your kind comments. Yup, fruits and veggies reign supreme in our fridge..lol
Glad you got your appetite back!!!
Glad to hear that your appetite is back. I hate that feeling- you want to eat, but then again you don’t because you have no taste for food.
I don’t watch much TV, but my favorite show right now is Modern Family.
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. Speaking of cheesy gymnastics movies, have you seen “Stick It”? It’s along the same lines as “Bring It On”! QUALITY!
Loved Stick It and especially Bring it On! I’ve seen Bring it On 100′s of times! Total sucker for those types of movies.
I can not express in words how much I love waffles. To be honest, probably 1000000x more than pancakes.
13 going on 30 is awesome! Its such a great cheesy movie. I’m going to check out that show now too… we obviously have simmilar tastes!!
Glad you are feeling better, Sissy. You know I subside on cheesy shows. I love Housewives of Orange County and the Millionaire Matchmaker. Of course Say Yes to the Dress, What not to Wear, House Hunters, and Property Virgins are also well worth watching.
haha im glad you are feelinb etter with everything!! yay
Mmm…huge waffle=happy me. Glad you feel better! BTW EVERY show I watch is cheesy…my recent guilty splurge is a “teen mom” or “16 and pregnant” on mtv. I get soo emotionally involved!
Yay!! Glad to hear you are feeling better! A kidney infection in scar-y. My mom always says that injuries and sickness is God’s way of “slowing us down.” Hopefully you got all the down time you needed. And what better way to celebrate the return of your appetite than with a waffle and gorgeous looking apple butter?
I don’t have full cable (ie, only get the cheap crappy channels), so I’ve been all about streaming shows on the MTV website lately. I’m with Diana on Teen Mom – love that show!
Glad you’re feeling better! And, the appetite is back, which is always a sign for me that my body is done fighting whatever it was that I had…
As for my favorite cheesy TV show, well, we watch a lot! We watched Kitchen Nightmares last night (cheesy!) and we also watch the Bachelor series which is the MOST CHEESY!!
Have a great Sunday
Congrats on getting your appetite back. I’ve never lost mine for long. Homemade apple butter? Yum!!!!!! I would love that.
You really do have to see Avatar. Trust me on this one!
Homemade apple butter and waffles sounds fantastic! Definitely a good meal for your newly found appetite
I hope you get to feeling 100% soon! xoxo
I hate not having an appetite. Waffles sounds like the perfect thing to ease you back in!
So torties are known to talk a lot? I heard they can be kind of diva-like, but not that they are chatty. If it’s true, Nora is certainly fitting the bill!
Good to hear you are feeling better.
Waffle looks really good.. I want a waffle maker but can’t justify buying one.
I’m so glad you are feeling better! Love the title of the post
I really love 13 going on 30, haha. It is the first movie I saw in a theater by myself!
btw, I’ll email you the spreadsheet I come up with for the pushups workouts later after work!
I can’t wait! My chest and arms are quivering in fear…
My favorite movie is the Grinch. Hee hee, how’s that for cheesy?
I’m glad you’ve got your appetite and eating groove back! Woo hoo! I actually love feeling hungry…it makes food taste so much better!
Sophia, I agree with that statement 100%. I love feeling hungry too!
Yummy pancakes! I definitely love Gossip Girl a little too much, but always watch it online as I never have time during the day. Happy to hear you have your appetite back!
Hey there!
Isn’t it the best after being sick feeling better?? It’s like you appreciate being healthy and well again! Glad to hear you’ve regained your hunger. I actually don’t own a TV! I decided when I moved to NYC last year I was going to force myself to go out and explore and not watch TV all day. (Humm I kind of use blogs as my tv now) haha But my favorite movie is Across the Movie and then the classic The Notebook. Sigh.

Beatrice is soo cute! I have heard about mesquite; sounds so good. I adore your Mom’s carrot cake!
