Well, folks, somehow I’ve managed to get myself sick again.  This truly is bizarre, as I rarely have to make trips to the doctor.  But In the past 3 weeks, I’ve found myself there twice.

As soon as I got home from work, I crashed.  After one episode of Glee, I was sleeping like a baby.  When I awoke an hour later, my tummy was rumbling.  Unfortunately, I had very little energy to cook something up.

DIN

So I microwaved a Morningstar Farms Garden Veggie for one minute, and then I slapped it between two pieces of Ezikiel Bread and called it a dinner.

MUS

This Bookbinder’s Southwest Style Chipotle Mustard made the perfect veggie burger condiment.

No cook dinners rock!

The most depressing thing about being sick is that I feel too run down to work out.  Usually, working out is my favorite part of the day.

However, I do have days where my gym-going motivation is lacking.  I have two solutions to this problem.

1) Bring a good magazine.

2) Put some motivating tunes on my iPod.

Tonight I’m going to share…

LHP’s Rockin’ Workout Playlist

  1. A Perfect Circle – Counting Bodies Like Sheep

As you can see, I’m not really into Beyonce or The Black Eyed Peas.  I do like some mainstream rock though.  Hopefully this playlist will introduce you to some new tunes you may not have heard before.  But I understand if it’s not your style.  Some of the songs are very “hard,” so listen at your own risk!

Well, I’m off to bed!  I need to rest off this sickness because I’m supposed to drive to Charleston tomorrow so that I can spend Valentine’s Day weekend with Stephen. :-)

What’s the one song that always pumps you during a workout?

  3. sophia says:

Omg, thanks for the playlist! I’ve been looking for new music to add to my Grooveshark library.

And aww…sorry you’re feeling sick! I hope you get well soon…and a good trashy magazine should help! :-)

  4. I love a good mustard- it’s amazing how it can make a basic sandwich seem gourmet :) I love working out to the Black Eyed Peas!

  5. WOWZAS you are a hardcore bad a$$ lady (based on music choice). The song that I couldn’t stop listening to when I used to run was Lady Gaga ANYTHING and jay z. Don’t judge. Hope you feel better! BTW i just bought morning star veggie patties and…TO DIE FOR!

  6. Lee says:

    Aww, feel better.

This is super weird, but one of my favorite running songs is by Sigur Ros. I don’t know if you’re familiar with them, but they sing in a made up language. I don’t even know what the song name is…something with an “s”. I also find that Snow Patrol is good for pump up music.

  7. Lily says:

yes! I know a few songs by Sigor Ros. I really like them. I had no idea they sing in a made up language! I just thought it was something foreign! Haha.

  8. Madeline - Greens and Jeans says:

The Format’s First Single never let’s me down! My super secre pump up song? Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody

  9. Thank you for this playlist! I have an eclectic taste in music- I like pop but I also like to workout to rock/alternative. Lately, my favorite sond to run to is “Re-education through labor” by Rise Against.

  10. Lily says:

I run to that song a lot, too!

  11. Lily says:

I know that song. I saw a Rise Against show last year.

  12. Kelly says:

AWESOME!!! I needed some new tunes and I am totally going to steal some of these! Sweet!

  13. K, Im loving your simple yummy din din.. perfect and simple!!!!

Have fun shoe shoppin hun ;)

  14. Dad says:

Get well soon/quickly, Kiddo! This is so unlike you.

That veggie sandwich looked mighty good to me.

(And as you well know, my taste on music is far, far, too conservative for that playlist.)

Dad (who used to run to the theme from “Rocky”)

  15. Anne says:

Right now, I think a pump up song would be something by Meatloaf. My music taste is definitely more eclectic with country, pop, and broadway. Hope you feel better for Valentine’s Day!

  16. Kacy says:

Oh yay! Following you now :) Feel better!

  17. Ooooh, have fun in Charleston!!! I’m jealous– I miss it SO much!

I hope you feel better :-(

  18. Keri says:

Hope you feel better! My favorite part of the day is usually working out also :) I will have to check out some of those songs…

  19. It’s funny….on a normal basis I listen to indie rock, but when I’m working out I like dance/rap music. My favorites are Lady Gaga and Ke$ha at the moment =)

  20. Gelareh says:

I listen to Persian music when I workout… something about it that gets me all pumped up.

  21. Lily! You have to check out my post today…and you’ll see why ;)

I love having a good magazine to read when I workout. When I used to go to OSU I would always get excited when they had new magazine, and I’d end up staying on the machine longer because of it. Now I just always make sure to have a good book, believe it or not. When it comes to music, I love Madonna and Red Hot Chili Peppers the best!

  22. Haleigh says:

I am sorry that you are feeling sick! I hope you get to feeling better soon.

  23. Right now I am loving “Empire State of Mind” by kanye west and aleisha keyes!

  24. Hey! I’ve just discovered your blog and I love it! I’m a Psychology student living off a budget too, so I can relate to you!
My favourite workout song at the moment is Cheryl Cole – Three Words, or Lady Gaga (I’m ashamed to say :p). I haven’t even heard of half the stuff on your list haha!
    Have a good day :)

  25. Chrysta says:

Oh hon!!! Im so sorry you are sick. I really hope you feel better! I totally agree that no cook dinners rock out. Thanks for the great playlist! Im always on the lookout for some new jams. RIght now Im so loving anything from Cascada. Great for cardio. I love Faded and Fever. Such good tunes. Anyways chica I hope you have an awesome weekend!

  26. Katie O. says:

Oh my goodness I hope you feel better! Nice playlist- I love candlebox. I’m ashamed to admit that I recently purchased “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus for my long run.

  27. Those blackberries look scrumptious! I definitely need good music at the gym, but it really depends on my mood. Girl talk or super smash bros are great mixes.
