Cleaning out the Fridge

Today’s eats were inspired by my urge to empty my fridge, freezer, and cupboards.  I have many foods that are 1) approaching their use by date or 2) have simply been taking up space way too long.

Breakfast

breakfast

Apple cinnamon oats topped with homemade granola bar crumbles and almonds.

I had been working on these instant oats for months!  I bought a huge tub years ago.  After this morning, I only had about one cup left.  Ready to rid myself of bulky packaging, I simply tossed the remainder of the instant oats into my jar of old fashioned oats.  Problem solved!

Lunch

dinner

Thawed frozen strawberries and pineapple.  Plus a container of Stonyfield fat free vanilla yogurt, and an almond, chia, and mesquite mixture.

That yogurt had been in my fridge way too long!  The thawed pineapple and strawberries needed to go as well.

Dinner

lunch

Randomness at its best: Wild rice, roasted brussel sprouts, and fresh mozzarella.

All leftovers from last week’s cooking experiments.

And there you have it…today’s meals!  Never fear, I eat a lot more in one day than what is pictured.  In addition to my meals, I had:

  • a bottle of kombucha
  • at least 2 servings of chocolate flavored Food Should Taste Good chips
  • a package of Health Valley Omega 3 flax clusters
  • LOTS of baby carrots
  • 2 dried peach halves
  • an orange
  • some Mary’s Gone Cracker’s with hummus
  • a small container of plain Oikos

You don’t have to worry about my calorie intake. :-)

***

Have a good night, all!  While you’re watching this week’s LOST, I’ll be catching up on the episode from last week.  AND watching the Olympics.

What’s your favorite “no cook” meal?

I think a lot of my meals are “no cook”. I love the crockpot and things that I can just toss in an oven. ;) That’s not really cooking to me. LOL

  11. I like the way you eat! ;-) My favorite no cook meal is protein powder mixed with a little water…it’s like pudding, but not so good. HA! I only do this when my ice maker is acting up…like now. And when I’m lazy…like now!

Hmm…no cook meal….does a ham and cheese sandwich count? I’m not much for raw veggies…
Oh! Maybe I can make a meal out of those fresh mozzarella…and tomatoes! LOVe them!

  26. This is my life, searching in the fridge, freezer, and cabinets for ingredients that I need to finish, then throwing them all together! I’m super lucky that Nick isn’t picky about what he eats, as long as it has some type of condiment on it (gross). I love doing eggs with cheese and just about any topping, usually veggies that need eaten, or rice, and bread of course, sometimes yogurt on top. Or I do a lot of stir-fry where I just throw everything together with some oil in a large skillet! It’s fun.

I’m sending your giveaway price tomorrow, by the way!

  27. Kacy says:

I feel like all my meals lately have been of the no-cook variety. I didn’t meal plan at all this month and it got pretty random.
