Hey guys!
I’ve just arrived home. On Friday afternoon, I had class at The Citadel, so Thursday evening I left for Charleston. Sorry I didn’t get around to blogging. I don’t like to spend my weekends with Stephen chained to the computer.
We had a busy weekend! We attended an oyster roast, watched lots of Olympics, exercised in the beautiful weather, and went out to dinner with friends. Most excitingly, I spent my Saturday morning Body Attacking! I miss Body Attack so much.
This morning, I slept in until 9:30! Whoa. Staying up late to watch the Olympics has been wearing me out.
As soon as I woke, I asked Stephen to make me some of this. Last weekend he bought a Bodum French press. Until this morning when I watched Stephen in the coffee making process, I had absolutely no idea how this thing worked! And now I know. I also know that this gadget makes some goooood coffee.
Stephen also made me one of these. A sammie with 2 eggs, kale, and a whole wheat sandwich thin. He makes the best egg sandwiches. And this one contained a yummy surprise!
Spicy guacamole!
My 10k training plan called for running 8 miles today. Before the run, I fueled up.
Banana with all natural peanut butter
Plus half of a sandwich thin slathered in this stuff.
My first time trying macadamia butter, and I approve! Cashew butter is still my favorite nut butter though.
Around noon, I decided it was time to get my booty in gear.
I even convinced Stephen to join.
First run in his new tennies!
We decided beforehand to take it easy. My gluteus maximus was very sore from Saturday’s Body Attack, and Stephen’s knee has been irritating him.
Our run was rather bleh. It was absolutely beautiful outside, but neither Stephen nor I were prepared for such warm temps.
Stephen decided to head home at 5.5 miles. I continued on because I really wanted to meet my goal of 8 miles. However, at mile 7.27, I easily gave up on that goal, and I walked the remaining 0.73 miles.
I maintained a pace of around 10:30 for the run. Interestingly I did the same run last week and averaged 9:43. Heat always kills me!
There was once a day that I would stop running at nothing. I had a much more maniacal approach to running in my college days. In the past 4 years, I’ve become much more forgiving with my running schedule. Of course, my current attitude has manifested itself in my running pace!
When I finally made it home, Stephen had a green monster already prepared for us to split. (He had even taken these pictures for me too!)
The GM contained low fat vanilla soymilk, kale, carrots, cucumbers, strawberries, and blueberries.
See that green in the middle? He even snuck in some avocado.
The final product was purple, not green.
After drinking my GM and showering, it was time to begin the 3 hour drive back to the upstate.
In the car, I snacked on some of these. Mary’s Gone Crackers recently sent me coupons so that I could try all of their products. I’ve been waiting to locate all of the products before doing my review, and this weekend I finally found the curry flavored Sticks & Twigs. Stay tuned for a review and a giveaway!
When I arrived at my apartment, I was thrilled to have received a package!
Last week, I won Gina’s giveaway. I’m quite excited to try the White Chocolate Wonderful, Smart Balance Pilates DVD, and light coconut milk (the First Trader Joe’s item I’ve ever possessed!). Thanks, Gina!
Dinner was quick. Canned corn (love this stuff!), and half of a Kashi Mushroom Trio and Spinach pizza. Kashi pizzas were on sale at Ingles last week, so I picked up 3 different varieties to try. This one was ok, but it was definitely lacking in flavor.
Dessert was a new favorite! Dried peaches and dried kiwis. SO delicious!

I’m off to give my undivided attention to Olympic ice dancing. I hope you all have a great night!
Questions:
1) What’s your favorite dried fruit?
2) Anyone doing the 100 Pushup Challenge? I busted out 10 this morning! Pretty much amazing, considering two weeks ago I could do a total of ONE!

Sounds like a great weekend! Glad to see you’ve returned from MIA. I thought that cashew butter was a bit bland. But it’s great in the soup that I make . . .
That dried fruit looks interesting. Where did you get it?
I cannot do a pushup at all. I probably should be doing the challenge for that reason alone. It’s one of those exercises that I just hate and therefore, never do.
Weirdd…I had White Chocolate Wonderful and dried kiwi today too! But my favorite dried fruit would have to be figs
Good job on the run
Whether you walked @ the end or not…8 miles is 8 miles!
Oh my goodness congratulations on the 10 pushups! That is so awesome!
Amazing progress! It sounds like you had a great weekend. Good job on listening to your body in the warmer temps. Running in the heat negatively affects me too.
My fave dried fruit is pineapple! It’s like candy
OMG. I’m soooo happy you have the white chocolate wonderful pb!!! I haven’t used it in so long and I finally cracked open a beautiful NEW jar of it this morning. Enjoy! Let me know how you like it! BTW congrats on a beautiful weekend with your beau. 7 miles is not too shabby lady!
Ohhh pineapple is one of my faves too!!
I snuck a taste after dinner! Good stuff. Like reeses pb cups!
sounds like a great run and i agree that the heat does make such a difference- it would always slow me down. you will love WCW!! and omg dired kiwi is soooo good. It has to be one of my favorites!!
dried kiwi! that looks awesome! I loev dried fruit but it is a major danger zone I could eat about 800 calories of it in one sitting LOL…love pears and also apples oh and prunes
love the pic of you in running action and awesome job on that run!!!
Your green (or purple) monster looks good!
And so does the rest of your weekend.
My favorite dried fruit is dried mango or pineapple. Mmm!
sounds like you had a fun weekend! what is your favorite green monster with spinach where you can’t taste the spinach? I finally broke down and bought some to try in one this week and I am scared!
Funny how running times can vary so easily due to unforeseen things like heat etc…….
My fav dried fruit is mango.
Your green monster looks great!
What a great weekend……
What a great weekend Lily!
I think it’s refreshing to have a more relaxed approach to running – I used to be a “never-stop” type but now I’m okay with taking breaks if I need them and most importantly, keeping injuries at bay!
My fave dried fruit is definitely dates – they’re like candy to me!
Have a great Monday:)
Cute pictures!!
My favorite dried fruit is just the plain old raisin!
I am in love with my french press coffee… very very good
My favorite dried fruits are fig, date and apricot.. yum! Macademia butter sounds yummy
Woohoo 10 pushups!! I love your French press! And that smoothie looks amaaazing. My favorite dried fruit is probably apricots or cherries.
What a delicious box of goodies!!!
I LURVE french press coffee…so good, and easy!
hey hon! That macadamia nut butter sounds awesome. Ive actually never tried it before! Or cashew butter though. Sounds like I got some new nut butters to try out! yey! Great job on your awesome run too! My favorite dried fruit might have to be mangoes. I just love them for some reason. I havent tried the 100 push up challenge but I might need to. Push are my nemesis! haha! Anyways I hope you have a rockin day girl!
Dried mango is hands down my favorite!
You will soon LOVE that french press, it does make great coffee! Ohh, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous that Stephen made breakfast and the GM and took photos and went on the run with you! LUCKY! My hubz is not yet enjoying the same foods I do and working out. It can be hard some times.
Maybe raisins. They are easy to access, cheap, go in oats and baked good all to well
Haha, never fear! There’s hope for your hubz. Stephen has been transitioning slowly.
I’ve heard good things about that White Chocolate Wonderful! Yummmm…
And I’m jealous of the warm weather you’re getting- I feel as if I’ll be breaking out the winter gear until May if this weather keeps up! Grossness…
I LOVE the look of your pre-run fuel and your GM! I definetly want to try cashew butter now…
I also love the presentation of your pizza – I didn’t realise it was possible to make pizza look elegant!
My favourite dried fruit is DATES!! IADORE them!! I also love banana chips..I have a sweet tooth
Dried cherries!! Yum!
I love that Stephen made the GM and even took pictures! My husband needs to be a more helpful blogger’s hubby!!!
Dude, Stephen is such a keeper! Making you coffee, an egg sandwich, and one of the most gourmet-looking Green Monsters I’ve ever seen? I’M JEALOUS!!! Also, that White Chocolate Wonderful PB is pretty much my favorite thing, ever. Like…I’d eat an entire jar in one sitting if I didn’t restrain myself.
I’m very lucky to have Mr. Stephen.
I was ecstatic when I finally found macadamia nut butter (they are my favorite nuts, hands down!) but I was kind of disappointed :/ The flavor was there, but I found it to be a bit too runny! Maybe I should give it a second shot since I’ve found so many more ways to utilize nut butters now
Wow, you’ve got yourself a great catch!! I have never dated a guy who would even try a green monster, let alone make such a delicious one for me!
Looks like a fabulous weekend!
that nut butter looks SO good! I’m working on my first jar of cashew butter and am absolutely obsessed, have you ever had pecan butter? lol
[...] I liked this one a lot more than the Kashi Mushroom Trio and Spinach Pizza. [...]
