Today was beautiful in SC! The temperature topped off around 60 degrees. Perfect running weather.
My training plan called for 3 easy miles, but I had my hopes set on 6. You just never know when the weather will change. I have to take advantage of the sun when I can! In fact, it’s supposed to snow here tomorrow. Goodbye warm, pretty weather.
I decided to run at my favorite park. I reserve it for sunny day running. On sunny days there are lots of people out and about, so I feel safer running all by my lonesome. I’m pretty neurotic about being careful when I’m running. (I’ve watched way too many true crime documentaries in my lifetime.)
So, here’s my beloved park.
What I love about this place is that I can run free! I’m not constrained by pavement and roads. However, as you can see above, there are paths to follow if I so desire.
FYI-My header pic was taken at this park. And, yes, the person in the picture is me!
I ran my desired 6 miles. Here are the stats:
Mile 1- 9:40
Mile 2- 9:19
Mile 3- 10:02 (HILLS)
Mile 4: 9:55 (HILLS)
Mile 5: 9:42
Mile 6: 9:07
Then I walked a nice half mile back to my car. I sang along with my iPod the entire way. I was just so happy to be in the sunshine!
My apartment is devoid of fruits and veggies, so I stopped at the grocery store on my way home. I was kind of a sweaty mess. I’ve never been one to mind running errands when I’m not looking my best.
In fact, I should probably be more careful about this “bad habit.” I’ve had countless run-ins with people from my past when I’ve been looking totally unkempt. OOPS!
I picked up these Veggie Patch Falafel Chick Pea Balls.
And threw a dinner together.
Falafel, kale chips with crushed red pepper, and a long grain rice mixture
The falafel was ok. Not bad, not good, and I didn’t really care. I was so hungry that anything tasted satisfying.

So today I was given two awards by fellow bloggers.
Some of my favorite ladies nominated me for the Sunshine Award! Thank you Katie, Kelly, and Keri.
You gals always bring sunshine to my day.

This award is from Diana @ My Marble Rye. Diana, thanks for the award. I look forward to reading your posts and comments every day!

As part of this award, I have to come up with six outrageous lies about myself and one truth. Readers, you pick which item is the TRUTH out of the lies. So here goes:
1) In college, I studied abroad in Australia.
2) I’ve seen Snoop Dogg in concert.
3) 8 years after graduating from high school, I still hold my alma mater’s cross country record.
4) I was in my middle school’s cake decorating club.
5) I have a secret desire to open my own cat grooming business.
6) I want to own a golden retriever one day.
7) I’m naturally a red head.
So there ya go. This was really difficult!
(And I know I’m supposed to nominate other bloggers for these awards, but I hate choosing!)

I have a couple LOST and Glee episodes to catch up on. Still not sure which show I’m going to tackle first. I have to admit I’ve been a bit disappointed with the past few Glee episodes I’ve watched.
So, which of my 7 statements was true?
Do you try to look your best when you run errands?

I always look unkempt when I’m running errands lol. Hmm March goal?
I think the true one is: You’ve seen Snoop in concert
Gorgeous weather for a run! Hmmm, #3 is true perhaps?
Ha. I used to always go out unkempt and still do it on a much milder scale from time to time. And of course, when you do you always run into someone you know or meet someone new. I try to not do it anymore and my husband really encourages me to dress in real clothes when going outdoors.
I think number 5 is true cos I think that’s such a cute dream to have!!
I always run by myelf though…now I’m worried to after you said that!!
I hate going to the store looking skanky too – if I have to, it’s a hat and sunglasses all the way! Embrace my inner diva
That park looks lovely
glee is good but it’s also contains some “dark” humor! BTW that park is so pretty…but i can totally see crimes happening there when the sun sets
BTW I look like shizzle at the grocery store too! I probably look homeless!
congrats on the awards! Oh and that park looks perfect for a run!
First of all love that park! What a great place to run…….
Smart to be safe when you run too.
I never look my best when I run errands and like you I tend to go after I have worked out-oh well…….It means we are real people and we don’t feel like dressing up for other people!
I think the true statement is you want to own a golden retreiver someday.
Have a good day!
I happily don’t care how I look when i run errands haha!
glad you got to run in the great weather! we haven’t had good weather since Saturday, boo!!!
don’t worry, I am really weird about where I run by myself. I don’t run on trails in woods, and really, I am not allowed to! My husband would kill me!
sounds like a great day for a run
Sometimes I try to look good when running errands, but it depends on what else is going on that day!
I don’t know.. they all sound true to me.. all of the m could have happened.. I am so bad at multiple choice.
Way to go on your run! Your park looks so peaceful and beautiful!
I’m always a mess when I’m running errands…actually I’m a mess everyday maybe?
And you’re naturally a red head?
Oooh..this is hard. I am guessing #2 is true
When do we find out?!
I rarely ever look my best when I run errands, but I don’t mind. If I bump into someone when looking a bit ratty, who are they to judge?
Oh good run!! I am paranoid about running safe too!
Okay…love the game and I am going with number 7 as being the lie: I don’t think you are a natural red head. FUN! I liked this!
And on running errands…totally wish it was acceptable to run errands in boxer shorts! I am definitely 99% of the time a mess!
You want a golden retriever! That’s the true one. I mean, how can you not? They are the best dogs in the world.
That park is gorgeous! I’m going to guess that you still hold the record at your alma mater
I try to make an effort in dressing when running errands, unless it’s after the gym. In that case, I think I’m entitled to look a little scrubby!
Hey, Lilcster!
Loved this blog! The idea of creating all those plausible untruths mixed in with one true one and entertaining guesses? Really interesting. I especially appreciated your creativity on the line items. I did! Even more so, I am getting a real “kick” out of the answers/comments.
Glad you got to run in your beautiful park! It was lovely out on the golf course, too! Speaking of sunshine, kudos on being nominated for a Sunshine Award.
And to comment on the appearance while out shopping or out-and-about,… uh, you must take after your Mother who is adamant about appearance in such cases as opposed to grubby, uncaring Dad.
Run safe!
I just tried making Kale Chips for the first time the other night. I was floored! They are amazing.
Beautiful park pics, looking forward to nice running weather here soon … I hope! I love kale chips and may need to try the chickpea balls. Hmmm, I think #4 is true.
Tat is a nice park- I love that it made your header pic with YOU! I totally don’t care how I look when I run errands. OOPS! It is just convenient to stop by the store on my way home from the gym or before, ya know. Can’t wait to hear which one is true…
Gorgeous park! I wish I had a similar one near me.
I’m guessing #3?
Just saw your comment on Running With Sass’ blog. So, you live in SC? I used to live in Columbia — I’m a USC grad.
Really miss it down there.
I’m doing the bridge run in Charleston for the first time this year. Are you? Have you done it before?
PS – Golden retrievers are the best.
Beautiful park–looks like the prefect day for a run!
Cool little list!! How cool that you still hold that title? Fast little biotch!!
I think I’ve finally decided that I don’t like falafels. They’re kinda tasteless.
I know the answer to the truth, but I won’t tell:) As to being unkempt doing errands, I have reformed this habit because it is inevitable that I run into a student.
Beautiful park, Sister. I do not run outside at this time of the year. By the way it barely made it to 19 whole degrees here. Enjoy the beautiful weather.
Do you really know? Stephen and Dad didn’t.
Oh my gosh, the weather and that park look amazing! 60+ degrees … I am so jealous. We are getting more snow here.
Lily, what makes you think Dad didn’t know? Of course he did! I even remember your talking about the strategy to make sure you and Faith both got the same club. Tsk, tsk.
It was a really interesting blog, though.
