Friday

When I got home from work on Friday afternoon, I was notified there was a package awaiting me in the apartment office.  My day was officially made!  I love getting packages and mail.nunaturals

NuNaturals sent me many exciting varieties of stevia!  [Crossing my fingers that I have time to bake this week!]

I ran a quick 3 miles, showered, and made my long drive to Charleston

And I finished this along the way.

I’ve been enduring this book on tape for a few weeks now.  Thank goodness, it’s over!  This is probably the least exciting storytelling I’ve subjected myself to in awhile.

When I got to Charleston, Stephen was still at his graduate student dinner.  So I scoured the cabinets and fridge for some dinner ideas.  The pickins were slim.  So I ended up with an oatmeal creation.

And some sad tomatoes that looked as if they needed to be eaten soon.

What a dinner, right?

Guess what I’d had for breakfast?

oats

Ummm…more oatmeal

The good thing about oatmeal is that the combination possibilities are endless.  It’s never the same meal twice!

Shortly after I ate, Stephen arrived.  He watched his Netflixed CSI, while I read about the NuNaturals products waiting for me at home.

Plus I drank a glass of pink wine.  I’m no wine snob.  White zinfandels are my favorite, and I’m not ashamed to admit it!

Doesn’t everyone spend their weekends reading about the latest health foods?

Saturday

I woke up early and went to BODY ATTACK!  It was the best workout I’d had in awhile.  At least that’s what my calves and rear thought.

When I came back to the house, I convinced Stephen to take a walk with me.  It was so sunny, and it had to have been at least 60 degrees!

We met a new friend along the way.

After our stroll, we decided to take advantage of the weather and clean out our cars.  I detest this activity, but a dirty car drives me crazy!  Stephen and I had definitely let our cars go for too long…

Meet Stephen’s Grand Cherokee.  His name is Chester.

ollie

This is Ollie the Echo.  We will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary together in April!  We have surely have been through a lot.

Look at all of the extra baggage I had forced Ollie to carry around for the past 6 months! [Sad to say, 6 months ago was the last time I cleaned her out.]

Unfortunately, Chester was in even worse shape.

Stephen chose to wear a mask during The Great Cleanse.  It took a lot of effort to get the above picture!

I had to take a few like this before he obliged a photo.  I felt like the paparazzi!

After a marathon car tidying session filled with vacuuming and interior scrubbing, Stephen and I cleaned up for a dinner out with his sister and her husband.

We ate at Continental Corner, a local Greek restaurant.greek greek2

Meet Rachael and David! [Did you guys buy kale today??]

greek3

We started with stuffed grape leaves.

greek4

And pita bread with a realllllllly good yogurt dip.

Then our meals arrived.  I ordered a gyro with fresh fruit.  Notice the side of fresh fruit is rather lame.  One strawberry, one pineapple piece, one orange slice, and about 5 grapes.  I don’t think this even counts as a full serving of fruit.

Sunday

Today has been pretty uneventful.  Stephen and I went for a 3 mile run.  Then we walked another 2 miles.  After that, it was time for me to head home to the Upstate. :-(

And here I am!  I hope you all had splendid weekends!

Question: What is your least favorite chore?  Mine is definitely vacuuming my car, but I feel so good now that it’s complete!

I’m not too proud to admit how jealous I am that you get sent freebies to test! Do you hate to quit reading/listening to books even if they suck? I’m kinda like that – I hate giving up on them! Have you ever tried white merlot? I got into it in college and it kinda segued into the more traditional varietals. I think it’s a little less sweet than white zin, but it’s still a safe non-wine-snob option. PS – You guys are so cute!

  2. sophia says:

Ohmigod! I’ve been moaning about how much I miss gyros these days…I crave them SO much! You are killing me with that pic!
Ah, too bad that book wasn’t so great…I thought it would be a good read, and was gonna check it out sometime.

  3. Lee says:

I buy wine based on if I think the label is cool. I usually no nothing about the wine inside!

That Greek place looks yummy. I think Greek (or any sort of Mediteranean) is my favorite type of food.

  4. I can imagine that The Memory Keepers Daughter made for a pretty terrible book on tape! I really really hate cleaning out my car! My beloved Bones is loooong overdue for good scrub down.

  5. Lily says:

I think it would’ve been a terrible read too! UGH.

  6. It’s been such a warm and lovely weekend! This is really making me crave spring, and flowers, and full-time warmth.

  7. Lily says:

Sophia, you might like it because I think its pretty popular. I just thought it was tremendously lacking.

  8. Lily says:

Kat-hmmm….I’m not sure if I’ve tried it or not…haha. I just kinda drink whatever. I’ll look for some next time I go to Total Wine though!

  9. katie says:

have you ever been to high cotton in charleston? i LOVE THAT PLACE! My fam always goes there when we go to wild dunes!

  10. Shelley says:

hmm i hate all chores- but i guess cleaning my room because afterwards i feel way better.
Your weekend sounds really relaxing/amazing- great weather too :) love the pics of you on the hill haha

  11. I’m glad I saw your review on that book but it was actually on my “books to read” list but I wasn’t really feelin’ it. I’m going to officially cross it off the list. :-)

I used to be just like you and put off cleaning out the car. Something that works for me is to clean out the car every Friday. I don’t vacuum and CLEAN it that often, I just empty it of all the junk. :-) Then I vacuum it every few months or whenever it needs it. But since I do it every friday, it never seems like that big of a chore. Just a little tip that may or may not work for you too. Love the blog! :-)

  12. Stef says:

you are so so beautifuL!!!!!! omg awesome NuNaturals package, i got some in the mail a little while ago too and have had so much fun experimenting!

  13. Stuffed grape leaves are one of my favorite appetizers! I’ve tried to make them numerous times but they never turn out as good as a restaurant’s.

I love how people name their belongings haha. Maybe it gives them more personality. My least favorite chore is scrubbing the floor :?

  14. Ahhh! I love greek food. I’m jealous. Especially good, homemade (or like at the restaurant made) pitas. YUM!

My least favorite chore is DEF cleaning the bathtub, I have no idea why, but I hate doing it.

  15. Anne says:

It was almost 60 up here in Massachusetts! I should definitely clean out my car. I keep using the excuse that it’s too dark at night.

  16. Oooh least favourite chorse….all of them! The only thing I enjoy is grocery shopping :D I do hate cleaning out the car especially (my girl is called Erica! She was named after my first car, who was a bloke, called Eric lol :D ).
That fresh fruit portion is terrible for a restaurant! I hope it wasn’t too expsensive :(
It’s good to see you back posting! :)

  17. Dad says:

Hey, Lily, I really enjoyed the post. Yours and Stephen’s weekend antics are becoming one of my favorite reads.

Some great photo work by Stephen on your “jump”. You are one high flier! Perhaps you should patent your action and give it a name like your car?

Loved the cat picture. As you know, like you, both your Mom and I are suckers for animals. Such a neat looking cat! Beatrice and Irvin miss you.

I must compliment Stephen on his sweater. Only great men wear that sweater.

Worst chore? Cooking! I am glad both you and your Mom love to do it.

Keep up the geat work on your blog. I truly do love to read it and the interesting comments.

  20. Such a cute photo of you and Stephen! The photos with the mask are too funny. I need to clean out my car! As of late I have been hating putting laundry away. I need to get a bigger dresser/more closet space! Glad that you had a good weekend :)

  21. I’m not really into chores at all but if I had to only pick one, I guess it would be mopping :D

  22. Ashley says:

You guys are so cute! I hate doing dishes more than anything else, possibly even more than the litterbox. At least the fiance has a dishwasher. :)

  23. Oh my goodness what a fun weekend!!! That picture of you jumping is adorable!!

My LEAST favorite chore is mopping…ugh…hate it!

  24. It must be hard to just see your boyfriend on the weekends!

  27. How did you like “The memory keeper’s daugther”? I thought it was so sad but loved it.

  28. Your eats look amazing. I absolutely adore Greek food. In fact, all I could think about during my Half, was how much I wanted to dive into a great big Greek Salad afterwards!!
