The Stephen Post

Happy Tuesday!  How has everyone been?  Thank you for the great suggestions on how to end my exercise rut!  Most of you agreed that my best bet would be to mix it up.

Unfortunately, my current location does not give me a variety of options.  I usually do 1 of 4 things: run, ellipticize (totally made that word up), go to Group Power, or attend Group Centergy.  Let’s just say, I’m on the hunt for a new exercise activity!  Thankfully, I’m going to Charleston this weekend, so there will at least be some Body Attack in my future!

Lily and Stephen’s Story

untitled7

When I opened myself up for Ask Me Anything questions, I was shocked at how many people were curious about my relationship with Stephen.  A lot of people asked how Stephen and I met, and I received several other related questions, so I thought it might be interesting to share our story.

Stephen and I met during my first semester of graduate school at The Citadel.  It was Stephen’s senior year as a cadet, and as part of my graduate assistantship, I was the TA for his biopsychology lab.

*Let’s pause for a moment here and let me clarify something:

Going to graduate school at The Citadel is completely different than getting an undergraduate degree there.  My classes were at night.  I did not have to complete any acts of endurance or physical strength in order to obtain my Specialist in Psychology degree.*

So, back to the story…our initial meeting took place amongst sheep brains and cow eyes.  I thought Stephen was a nice fellow, but for various reasons, it never crossed my mind that we would be a love match.

(Stephen as a Cadet.  He was the pipe band’s drum major.)

Over the next few months, I often ran into Stephen on campus.  We would casually chat when we saw each other, and I must admit, I started to notice just how handsome he was. :-)

When March rolled around, Stephen invited me to a dance on campus.  It was our first date, and, boy, was it a flop!  Although our date was a disaster, I decided I’d give Stephen another chance.  My friend was having an oyster roast that same weekend, so I invited Stephen along.

We actually hit it off!  Pretty much from that day on, we were a couple.

Stephen and I have been dating for over 3 years now.  In that time, we’ve even endured graduate school, my internship, and even a 1 year deployment with the National Guard.

(Stephen and his sister Robin before he went back to Afghanistan after his leave.)

Here’s to many more years with Stephen!

FYI: Stephen and I aren’t married.  I got one question inquiring as to why we are married yet we live apart.  Well, that’s because we have yet to tie the knot!

Question: Do you have a significant other?  How did you both meet?

By the way, Feel free to keep asking me anything!

I love hearing other people’s stories. Peter & I met through a mutual friend on her birthday night. She was determined we were perfect for each other but I had sworn off men and was flitting with the idea of hooking up with the neverending nonsense ex and Peter was soooo hesitant about meeting some random chick. She had to fake cry to get him to come out and I thought I would just be nice but not really notice him. Nope! We were attached since then. :)
