So first off, I thought it was interesting that I received this item in my mailbox today.
A Marlboro ad?
And wait!
Coupons galore!
I’m all for coupons, but I’ve never smoked a day in my life, so I don’t think I’ll be using these!
I haven’t lived at this address very long, and I rarely get junk mail, so I’m quite curious how in the world Marlboro got my address…
Exercise
It was rather rainy and dreary outside, so I decided to do an elliptical workout at my apartment complex. Usually when I ellipticize, I set the program to random and I work out for 60 minutes.
Now I know that using the elliptical has been under fire as a form of exercise lately. However, I am very leery of this research. I’ve been ellipticalling for years now, and I find it to be a great form of exercise. Here’s the key: bump up the resistance!
Breakfast
Ezikiel Cinnamon Raisin cereal. Don’t be fooled. There are raisins in this, but that classic cinnamon raisin taste is nowhere to be found. Trust me, there is not even a hint of sweetness to this cereal.
A sprinkling of mesquite easily helped remedy this problem. And a side of Pom Juice helped up the sweetness factor of my breakfast as well.
Lunch
Leftover lentil dahl served with my last piece of Trader Joe’s curried naan.
Dinner
I had a bit of extra time on my hands this evening, so I decided to whip up a blog world recipe I’ve been wanting to try.
Oh She Glows’ nut butter parsnip fries!
I was making these solely for myself, so I only used one parsnip. The original recipe uses 3 parsnips, so I decreased the coating ingredients to:
- 1.5 Tbsp. almond butter
- 1 Tbsp. grapeseed oil
- sprinkle sea salt
I served the fries alongside some leftover meatloaf.
I really enjoyed these fries! To me, they tasted similar to sweet potato fries topped with cinnamon and brown sugar.
Dessert
I made another blogger recipe for dessert.
Kenzie’s Raw Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Two thumbs up! This was so easy to make. I’m definitely going to play with other flavor combos in the near future!

Good night, my friends!
I am going to finish up the documentary I’m currently watching called America The Beautiful. It’s really interesting! Or maybe I mean disturbing. It follows the career of a 12-year-old model. According to the documentary, she is quite sought after as a runway model…until she hits puberty.
What’s your favorite documentary?
I have so many: I’m pretty much the documentary queen. But I’d have to say my absolute favorite is Paradise Lost. No, this Paradise Lost has nothing to do with John Milton. The documentary is about 3 teenage boys put on trial for murder in a small town. I would highly recommend you stop what you’re doing, and begin watching this movie immediately!

I love love love documentaries. I love Food Inc. of course but Paradise Lost sounds fantastic! I will put it on my to-do list! Have you ever thought about how fun it would be to make a documentary? I think it would be blast!

I like documentaries but I can’t think of what my favorite one is. I watched one about Amish teenagers called Devil’s Playground that was interesting.
I’ve seen that one! It’s pretty good!
I really like Food Inc…..I’m about to watch Fast Food Nation, and I’m going to be reading Reefer Madness which is about the black market!
I don’t watch many documentaries on purpose (I might run across them on PBS or something). However Super Size Me was interesting, and by interesting I mean GROSS!!
I don’t think I’ve seen a cigarette ad in years?! That’s strange it ended up in your mailbox
I also haven’t heard of the elliptical being under fire? Do tell
So weird about the cig ad in your mailbox, crazy, coupons too! Your Indian lunch looks delish…mmm…TJs naan. I def need to try this mint ice cream too!
omg i just posted mint choc chip ice cream today! super easy and good..yours looks great too!
I’m trying those parsnip nut butter fries tonight! I’ve literally had it penciled in to my diary to try them for the past week
And now I need to go research the mint ice cream…that sounds amaze!
Those “fries” do look and sound good. And since meat loaf is one of my all-time favorites, I find it hard to believe poor Dad did not get even a taste of your healthy version.
As to documentaries, unlike you, I do not watch so many, but Paradise Lost is a very fine one. (and the additional ones related, too)
first of all they sent that cigarrette “care package” to the WRONG girl!! That documentary sounds really good…I like disturbing things..
I love documentaries but Glenn hates them so I haven’t seen one in sooo long!!! “grizzly man” is probably last one I saw…and those parsnip fries are amazing no? Great full day of cooking!
I have never seen cigarette coupons. So weird that you would get them in your mail.
I don’t watch many documentaries, but when I do I always find them very interesting. The one you are watching sounds very intriguing. And even more disturbing. Only being able to model until puberty? Ick!
It makes me crazy when marketers miss the mark! I can’t get over that Marlboro direct mail piece! Grrrr!
OMG coupons for cigarettes? gross!!!
I didnt know the ellipticla was under fire as not being a form of exercise! I sweat like crazy on that thing!
So random about the cigarettes. Yick. I could see where the elliptical would be under fire in the sense that there are a lot of people that just kind of trudge along slowly on it. It is still better than nothing but I don’t think the flak should be reserved solely for the elliptical. It’s about effort! If you work hard and push yourself on the elliptical you will see results.
I think the last documentary I saw was one of Michael Moore’s- the one about Flint, Michigan. I need to start watching more!
Wow…I haven’t seen a cirgarette ad in years! That is crazy!
ugh that marlboro thing is sick! ugh! i love docs too. the last one i saw was so good-go further with woody harrelson
Your Indian lunch looks soo tasty! That documentary sounds really interesting, I love just watching random ones that come on television.
How funny that you got those coupons! I smoked for years and never recieved ANY! Hmmmmm!
I haven’t seen many docs but I want to see one called The Business of Being Born!
How random re: the Marlboro ads and coupons!
I recently just watched Food Inc so that’s my fav right now. I’m going to watch the Cove about the dolphin kilings. I know it’s going to make me cry. My friend and I are sooo into documentaries right now. Next weekend, we’re watching Killer at Large – its about obesity.
Whats the deal with ET’s? I love the elliptical when my knee is dying and I can’t run. You’re right though, once you bump up that resistance it is haaaaaaaaaard!!
lmao. That’s crazy, that Marlboro is now sending out coupons. What next? Social media? Twitter perhaps? Or facebook fan group? haha!
I totally agree with you that the elliptical can be a great way to mix it up, but you gotta ramp up the resistance, not just loly-gag it!
~Christie
That’s crazy. I thought at first that there was a sample of a cigarette in there!! Coupons are just as bad, yikes, so many!! How annoying.
I tried parsnip fries a while ago and they didn’t turn out quite as nice as yours. They were tasty, but NOT pretty, that’s for sure. My next adventure is carrot fries. They’ll probably be similar, but I want to try.
oh I’m with you and looooove documentaries!!!
