Pet Names

Thanks for all of your sweet comments on my graduation post!  Many of you asked about my after graduation plans.  I’m not certain of my future right now, but once I get my postgrad life figured out, I’ll be sure to let you all know!

Let’s get down to business and take a glance at today’s eats.

Breakfast

 break

I wasn’t feeling very hungry when I woke up, so I had a small bowl of vanilla Galaxy Granola before heading to work.  I usually eat breakfast even if I’m not feeling hungry.  At work I never know when I’ll get a chance to eat, so I need to fit in my meals when I can!

Lunch

veggies2

Lunch included veggie pasta and sautéed veggies.  I bought these veggies pre-sliced and packaged for a mere $2.00 at the grocery store.  I don’t usually recommend buying precut veggie mixes, but in this instance, I feel like I came out with a steal!

 Pre-Workout Snack

 FSTGchips

Chips and hummus!  Food Should Taste Good chips, to be exact.

This past weekend, Stephen and I popped into World Market, and I found some goodies!

  32

Ramekins (I’ve been wanting some of these forever!), garlic hummus, Olive FSTG chips, Potato & Chive FSTG chips, Lime FSTG chips, sea salt dark chocolate, and chili & lime dark chocolate

I’d never seen the Potato & Chive or Lime Food Should Taste Good chips in a store before, so of course I snatched these up!  They make a delicious pre-workout snack, I tell ya!

Dinner

 tofu

I decided to bake some tofu.  These are marinated in a random sauce of vinegar, soy sauce, and sriracha.

tofu1

Served atop some yummy quinoa.  I hadn’t made quinoa in awhile, and I’d forgotten how quickly it cooks.  Not only is it more nutritious than rice, but it cooks faster too!

Dessert

This is to TBD.

Sad news in the LHP apartment: I’ve finally eaten my entire stash of cookie cake. :-(

I guess this means some baking will be in my near future!

P.S. My sister’s family got a dog!  His name is Leonard.

max

Maxwell is absolutely in love with him.  Seriously, how sweet is this picture?

Question: Do you prefer to give your pets people names?  Or would you rather name them something like Princess or Sparkles?  I prefer people names.  I like them a little wacky.  For example, some of my family’s pets have been named Thomasina, Earl, Beatrice, and Irvin.

I prefer people names. I guess Murphy is sort of hybrid dog-person name. If we get another dog, I really want to name him Bill Clinton or Alex Trebek. Jason thinks I’m crazy.

  2. World Market is DA PLACE to get yummy chocolates…especially ENGLISH chocolates..mmm…cadbury. I don’t have pets but I always wanted to name my pets after spices..like paprika or something..hahah I’m such a foodie..btw NO TEASING us with your plans..I wanna know NOW!!! :)

  3. Anne says:

    i say people names!

  4. sophia says:

Funny! I just talked to a friend who is getting a new puppy, and she said she felt weird calling her pets people names…she’s thinking of somewhere along the lines of Roxy or something. :-)

  5. Wow these Food Should Taste Good things are everywhere! I feel I’m missing out over here :(
I’m not sure re names…I just like slightly weird ones, regardless of if they’re human or not – like a cat called Mitch would be cute, and I love my cats’ names atm (Obama, Kovac and Carter) but then other names are cute too – my sister wants to call her next cat Mr Sniff or something lol :P

  6. Dad says:

Lily, and how could you have forgotten the Peach and Pink names? Some day you will have to blog that story.

  7. Oh my goodness that picture is adorable. I like people names :) My pup’s name is Bailey and when we get a lab we’re naming him Brody. If I get another yorkie it’ll be Riley. So I guess I like last names, haha.
My mom always came up with the most random names for our pets. Our cats were named Nikita and Jezebel growing up, and her yorkie was named Buckus. Weird!

  8. Your lunch looks really good…
Hmm Sadie is my first dog and my husband had picked her name years before we got her.. but I have to say I find it funny when I hear foods used as pet name… i.e. Pizza

  9. Your tofu looks delicious! Hmm I think people names are cute on pets! Not sure what Daisy would be considered though!

  10. Tina says:

Looks like we were both in the spicy tofu mood last night. It sure is good!

  11. Out of cookie cake? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! haha!

I have never been a fan of “fluff” names…I like real names! My dog growing up was Molly and now I have a dog named Kodi. I am trying to convince Keith that our next dog needs to be Miller!!!

  12. i like silly names over real names :) my next rottie is gonna be named Junior :) wait is that a real name?

  13. WOW…loving the lunch!!
Awww that IS a great picture and I’m torn–I like people names AND fun names. Guess it just depends! I wanted to name my old dog Tallulah but I lost that battle…we went with Zoe Talluluh!

  14. Kacy says:

I like people names too, or food names. Like George or Frank or Noodle or Mustard.

  15. I think that a nice combination of the two works well… Not too flamboyant but not too human either. Something like Rover or the name of a favorite vacay spot like Jamaica..
I don’t know maybe Jamaica is too flamboyant…

  16. Kat says:

If for some unknown reason I’m put on death row and asked which “last meal” I’d want, I’d just ask for a truckload of World Market sea salt chocolate bars. For reals. I TOTALLY love people names for pets…it sounds silly, but it seems almost “disrespectful” to the animal to give it a floofy pet name.

  17. Congrats on graduating!!! That’s verrrrry exciting :)

Your veggie pasta dish looks outstanding. And only 2 dollars for the pre-cut veggies? That’s a deal.

My family is getting a dog this week, actually. I can’t wait to hear what they name her. I always think it’s best to live with the pet for a while before coming up with a name. It’s a lot more personal that way.

  18. jodi says:

You know my vote on this, Lily. People names like Georgia, Opie, Mr. Wendal, Merlin, and Leonard. I think I had two hamsters in there named Benjamin and Wilma.
The veggie pasta looks great. I am going to have to look for that at the store.
Congrats on graduation. I really wish I could have been there. Thanks for posting pictures.

  19. She-Fit says:

Sad days about the cookie cake. I always get depressed when my desserts come to an end :(

  20. Katherine says:

Let me know how that hummus from World Market is! I’ve looked at it every time I’m there but have yet to purchase. ((I do love those chips though))

  21. Lily says:

Actually, it’s not very good! Don’t buy it!

  22. stef says:

i used to buy that shelf stable hummus (for totally ED reasons, it has a weirdly low cal count…) nowadays i go for more flavorful tahini flled varieties! i’ve been meaning to try those chips, sound cool. i am with ya—i eat breakfast even if i’m not hungry (although that is a rare situation!) most important meal of the day! oh and CONGRATS on graduating girl!!!

  23. Nicole, RD says:

I like both kinds of pet names, but I just love the name Lily :) Coincidence :)

The tofu looks wonderful! I love baked tofu!!

    P.S. Happy Graduation!!
