Happy Monday!  I hope you’ve all had a fabulous day :-) .

Mine has been stellar!  I came home to a spotlessly clean apartment, courtesy of Stephen.  It was simply glorious to enjoy my evening without worrying about how the floor needs to be vacuumed and the dishwasher needs to be emptied!

So yesterday, I promised that today’s post would cover the last of my weekend’s events.  Here ya go!

Sunday

Stephen and I stopped by my parents’ house for some lunch.

What my parents don’t know is that I really came over for a visit with these two punks.

cats3

Throughout my lifetime, my parents have owned the motliest crew of cats ever.

cats

These two are by far the laziest.

cats2

The portliest

And the lounging-est cats I’ve ever known.

For lunch my mom outdid herself.

dinner2

Wheat berry salad, tuna steak, and sweet potato fries.

Check out dessert!  Applesauce cake with real cream cheese icing.

Stephen approved. :-)

Side note:

yard

My parents have the most beautiful back yard.

My dad works hard to keep his lawn perfectly manicured.  And he is very proud of his product.  I’m sure he’s beaming with pride now that his efforts have been featured on the blog. ;-)

After a deliciously filling lunch, Stephen and I headed downtown to take a stroll.  I’m so lucky to live in this beautiful state!  I truly think it may be one of the most gorgeous areas in the United States.downtown1  downtown3 downtown4 downtown5

  1. Awww your dad is so adorable…he wants the world to see his hard labor! :) BTW tuna steaks? zomg..my fave..so delish..oh and cream cheese icing would definitely be on my “last meaL” if I ever were sentenced to death in jail..okay totallly random. One of the most beautiful places for me has been overlooking the ocean when i went to san francisco last year. hands down.

  2. Lee says:

Yum applesauce cake. As for beautiful places, I’m quite partial to Vermont.

  3. Your parents DO have a perfect lawn lol. And they make awesome lunches! Cream cheese icing <3

I think a lot of places are beautiful. I love everything from tropical beaches to the mountains in VA to caves…

  4. Apple sauce cake, nice!
I’m not really sure where the most beuatiful place is – I don’t think I’ve seen it yet! It’s probably somewhere in the USA – I’ve seen pictures and it’s incredible!

  5. Ashley says:

    YES BEATRICE!!!

The Pennsylvania mountains are pretty, but the Florida skies and beaches are beautiful.

  6. How gorgeous! My favoriet place is at home (Southampton) where I grew up at the beach

  7. I haven’t been to many places, but so far the most beautiful I’ve seen are Mexico, Florida, and Vermont (especially Vermont in the Fall…breathtaking!!).

  8. Oh my goodness…lol…your cats are the cutest things ever :-)

  9. applesauce cake?!?! i want that recipe!!

    pretty lawn!

  10. Your mom is such a talented cook! The lunch is out of this world- the perfect components to a meal!! And applesauce cake with cream cheese icing must have been outrageously delicious. I love cream cheese. So much!

You certainly do live in a gorgeous place! I love seeing the pics. And your dad does a fantastic job of landscaping/keeping your yard looking beautiful!

I think the most beautiful place I’ve been is Capri, Italy. It is unbearably scenic. The blue grotto, the winding roads, the water, the rock cliffs. Aaaahh. Oh, and Iceland is up there too!

  11. Wow their backyard is really pretty! I can’t wait until I can afford to live somewhere with my own backyard!

  12. Katie H. says:

The kitties are too funny! I love the backyard. So pretty! A lot of places are beautiful, but my favorite is the area overlooking the b&b I stayed at in County Cork, Ireland- breathtaking views of the oceans and cliffs!

  13. Wow that meal seriously looks amazing, especially with the applesauce cake for dessert! YUM. I visited the Cinque Terre in Italy a few summers ago and it was so breathtaking. Definitely the prettiest landscapes I’ve ever seen!

  14. Lily says:

    YES! Cinque Terre is marvelous!!

at first, all I saw was the ‘and here’s dessert’ above the picture of steven haha. cats are crazy. somehow ours always got to be overweight growing up…

I love nature. I think anywhere can be appreciated if you take time to stop and enjoy it

  17. Tina says:

Those pictures are really gorgeous! I would have to say the most beautiful place to me is Daytona Beach. Partially because looking out on a beautiful sunrise over the ocean is amazing, but also because all the memories I have there. It is a special place to me.

  18. Dad says:

Really enjoyed this blog. NICE pictures. Thanks for the comments about our backyard.

In all my world travels, I can truthfully say I see the most beauty in the good old USA. My recommendations:
… The California coast around Carmel and Pebble Beach
… Looking down on the world from high in the Rocky Mountains above Vale and surroundings
… The northeast (like Vermont and surrounding states) in the Fall.
… The Atlantic Coast and the wonderful woodlands of Maine

Lastly, you titled this blog Motley Crew and idicated you went to your parents for lunch. I don’t mind being considered part of a motley crew (If the shoe fits …) but your Mother is quite undeserving!

  19. Heather says:

those cats are so fat! too funny! sounds like a fun weekend! my dad is the same way about my parents yard. if a leaf falls he has to run out and pick it up lol!

  20. jodi says:

Sis, the pics of mom and dad’s make me homesick. I’d vote for SC being one of me most beautiful places I have ever been. Some of my most picturesque memories are of us hiking the mountains over Christmas. Hopefully we will have some beautiful beach memories to recall after this summer.
As to fat cats, Mr. Wendal is offended. He says that Beatrice and Irvin are just chunky. Mr. Wendal describes himself as portly at 22lbs.
