Mom Weekend

This weekend Stephen had National Guard drill, so my mom and I had a girls’ weekend!  You can read about my last documented mother/daughter weekend here.

This time around, she and I didn’t do anything too out of the norm.

We vegged in front of the tv, and caught up with my Netflix queue and On Demand television shows.

Letters to Juliet = LAME

The Office = HILARIOUS

This video isn’t the best quality, but I had to share.  My mom and I were laughing so hard we couldn’t breathe during this scene from Episode 5!

We also did some shopping at our favorite bargain stores.

I found these Kashi bars at Big Lots for $2.00.  I don’t usually shop at Big Lots, but while in the store, I was pleasantly surprised by their food selection.

They had lots of Nature’s Path, Cascadian Farms, and Kashi products!

Plus a wide variety of tea.  Don’t worry, I didn’t buy any!  My pantry is already busting out the seams because of my tea obsession!

I also picked up two new (to me) veggies at the Indian Market.

The green veggie is a variety of squash and the white veggies is a type of radish.  I can’t wait to roast these and try them out.  I’m certain I’ll be going back to that Indian grocery store soon because there were so many exotic veggies to try!

My mom had a 30% off coupon, so I purchased some new and much needed Body Attack shoes at Kohl’s.

Let’s be honest, it was the style and colors that sold me on these shoes.

I fact, I can’t remember the last time I bought a pair of shoes that weren’t Asics.  I just thought these were too cute to pass up!  Plus, these seemed comfortable enough.

I will note though– this particular pair of Nikes seems to run really big.  I keep flip flopping on whether or not I should’ve purchased a 7 rather than my usual 7.5.  But I didn’t notice a problem at Body Attack tonight, so I think I made the right choice.

It should be noted that although I had a wonderful and relaxing weekend with my mom, Link did not.

IMG_3101

He is deathly afraid of his Grammie.

I’m not sure why.  Most cats like her!  Every family cat we’ve owned has certainly favored her over me or my dad.  (Besides Irvin.  For some reason he goes crazy over LHP Dad.)

When my mom visits she brings Link toys, gives him treats, talks to him sweetly, and even feeds him in an attempt to win his love.  But Link will have none of it.

Poor Link has been extra snuggly and has not left my side since Grammie departed on Sunday.

I could get used to all these snuggles.  Perhaps Grammie should visit more often?

On a less cute note…let’s talk about something disgusting.

Last week this is what I found when I opened up my daily preworkout Larabar

I drove through your parent’s town today and thought of you.

You should show that to Larabar. I bet they’ll send you free bars!

  2. The white veggie looks like a diakon or mooli root (japanese radish), I love them in stir fries or raw in salads. I’ve never roasted it, will be interested to hear what its like! :-)

  3. letter to the company time!!! anyways why would you want more snuggles? doesn’t he snuggle enuf? hahahah i’m such a hater? is that a daikon? they always use it in japanese inspired dishes…me thinks. anyways I heart the office…until season 3. :(

Eww, Larabar better be compensating you quick-fast. That is disgusting! And omg, I was DYING during that episode of The Office. That whole situation was hilarious! And yayyy on snuggly kitties!

I love the office! My favoritest show ever :) Link looks so adorable! That is awful about the larabar- letter time!

  8. that’s a great deal on those Kashi bars! I just got some and paid $4.99 for mine :(

  9. Yuckmo on the Larabar! But those shoes are great! Those colors and the style really make them original. Great find:)

  10. Ugh I’ve got to start paying more attention to the bars I eat. But yay for a weekend with mom! I went to the spa with my mom this weekend :) I love mother-daughter days!

  11. Dude, you need to write them a letter and let them know! Take action with your consumer rights!

I havent met one person who liked Letters to Juliet which sucks because it kinda looked cute in a predictable way. I need to go to your Big Lots b/c mine is ghetto fabulous and doesnt have cool stuff like that.

  12. Ah how gross! i guess something went wrong it the production process….

Besides that, it sounds like a great weekend with your mom! I have no desire to see letters to juliet. And the office is BY FAR my favorite TV show. “The Christening” from 3 weeks ago was amazing!!

  13. Anne says:

On the bright side, the Lara bar has food in it that CAN mold (as opposed to many processed foods that are good for years).

  14. aha…cats can be so stubborn.
sweet deal on the shoes! i find Nike’s fit small actually, maybe i just have really big feet?? :P

  15. Ashley says:

I was already not that into Larabars … now I’ll probably never buy one again. Gross.

Here in the Fashionably Fit household we can appreciate Link’s handsomeness but we’d really like to see more Beatrice photos.

  16. Heather says:

    i love the office!
so gross about the mold, I never check before I eat them, and I had one today! ew!

  17. Jodi says:

Poor mom. Educate that cat on the importance of grandparent love:) I had an apple pie Lara Bar today from our favorite discount store. Delish. Gross on the mold.

  18. Sick.

I can’t believe they only gave you a coupon for 1!
