About Lily’s Health Pad
Welcome to Lily’s Health Pad! A health enthusiast, I started this blog to share information about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle while on a budget. I have always tried to live a life full of exercise and nutritious meals. However, after discovering the world of blogging, I have realized there are many changes that I could make in my own life in order to be healthier. My main goal is to eat less processed foods and to eat more whole, nutritious fare such as grains, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. I hope to share with my readers how this can be frugally accomplished. Check out my post A New Perspective on Health for a more detailed look at my how my diet is changing!
About Lily
I am a 26-year-old psychologist. I received a B.S. in Psychology from Clemson University. One week after graduation, I moved to Charleston, South Carolina in order to begin graduate school at The Citadel. I currently have an Masters +30 in the psychology field. Psychology is a serious passion in my life. I am very happy with my career choice.
I am also passionate about fitness! Running is one of my favorite activities. I have run 3 half marathons and 1 full marathon as well as many 5k’s and 10k’s. Eventually, I would like to train for an ultra marathon. Another of my favorite cardiovascular activities is a Les Mills group fitness program called Body Attack. If Body Attack is available where you live, I would totally recommend that you try it! It is a great workout for the both the beginning and seasoned athlete! Other forms of exercise that I enjoy are hiking, indoor rock climbing, and skiing.
I also enjoy cooking and baking. This is a fairly new hobby for me, and I am still learning as well as acquiring the necessary utensils and appliances. Therefore, most recipes that you find on this website will not only be inexpensive and nutritious, but also simple!
Besides psychology, fitness, and nutrition, I enjoy watching movies, mainly documentaries (usually about the aforementioned topics!). I absolutely adore Netflix! I also like to read, attend an occasional rock show, and spend time with Link Bartholomew, my cat.

You are awesome! Congrats on your running accomplishments! I hope to one day run an ultra too. All in due time
Great blog! I can’t wait to look around and follow!
Beatrice looks like a cutie cate, but rather formidable. Such a cute little face. Where did you find a picture of that “horse/pony-cat?!
My boyfriend went to Clemson, and my family is from Southern Indiana (like rural Southern, Leavenworth)!! I love your recommendations on eating healthy on a budget. Oh yeah, and not a morning exerciser either. I’ve added you to my list of blogs . . . hope to read more fun things!
Anne, what a coincidence! I’ll have to ask my parents how far away Leavenworth is from their hometowns. Where they are from is definitely rural!
Love your blog Lily! I’m a fellow Clemson psych grad (2004) and runner
Keep up the great work!
Jen, how awesome is that? I bet I’d recognize you if I saw you! I’m an ’06 grad.
Hi Lily! I just stumbled upon your blog; it’s great. Awesome budget tips- I love personal finance! I’m looking forward to following your blog
Thanks soo much for stopping by my blog! I am intrigued by yours and cannot wait to read more!!
My fiance is from Clemson (actually Seneca) but he went to USC in Columbia.
Great story! Love that you’re a Psych major – such an intriguing field!
Okay I have FINALLY come over to your blog. I see your comments all the time! This is a great blog and I am mad it took me so long to visit. Can wait to stay tuned!!
Just found your blog- it looks great! I’m a fellow runner, also a triathlete, and I live in Columbia, SC. My husband is a Clemson grad as well(undergrad 03, masters 05). I have to say I discovered body attack about a month ago and I am addicted. I cannot get enough of that class!
Anne and Lily,
Leavenworth!? Lily’s mother and father are from Perry County, IN (Tell City and Cannelton) which is a little farther south on the Ohio River, but definitely rural and in the sticks. We know Leavenworth well.
It (Southern Indiana) may be in the sticks, but it is a great place, and a great culture to have grown up in.
Awesome blog! I love that your degree is in psychology. I’m 24 and decided to go back to school to get a degree in psychology after being out for a few years and I love it. I want to specialize and marriage and family therapy. I look forward to reading more from you.

Hey girl hey! I spent my high school years in SC. Charleston is the bomb. I’m a freshman psychology major and I adore it.
Hi there,
I completely understand why you enjoy Psychology as your career choice. I gained a Bsc Single Honors Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Gerontology, unfortunately my career path took me down a totally different road and i miss what i learnt many years ago at university in the UK.
Thank you for the advice on Body Attack, they run the class at the leisure centre i use (2 mins from my front door) but have felt a little intimidated to go on my own, maybe i will take a brave pill and attend a class soon!
Hey nice to meet ya! I love this blog, you make so many yummy dishes:)
Thanks for the neat tips – I appreciate worthwile content to read! – Debra http://www.veganfamilystyle.com
Hey! I was just reading today’s entry & saw you mention the Upstate so came here to see if there was any chance you were talking about SC… & you were! I graduated from Clemson as well (2007 in biology) & my entire family lives in Charleston (I moved there since I was in high school). I live in Atlanta now but always love finding other bloggers from the area.
I’m so happy that I just came across your blog… I went to Furman! Now I live in Charlotte, though. Love your passion for health and fitness… sounds just like me
